My ragdoll recently went for a bath (parents are really anal about cleanliness so taking the cat for a bath every 4 months was the compromise) and the groomer said that her anal glands were really blocked up and that we should be doing it regularly. That's fine, but we can hardly see the glands with all the fur and the little vixen won't let us hold her for more than 2 minutes (this isn't even for doing care stuff. That's just for funsies). We've tried using the purrito method but she absolutely despises it and nearly clawed at my face, despite having a very tight grip on her.

Do you have any tips for 1) managing the fur around there so at least we can locate the glands and 2) tips for making it less uncomfortable for her?

ok, first absolutely contact a vet to see if her glands ARE blocked up. Anal gland issues generally come with some pretty distinct symptoms that you would notice: butt scooting, a foul odor (it smells like rotten fish), cat licking its behind WAY more than necessary, difficulty pooping, etc, etc.

These glands are located INSIDE the body. They're normally not visible on cats. The most you can typically see is the little openings on the rectum. When everything is working properly, the glands fill up with a thick liquid that's squeezed out when the cat poops.

Impacted glands happen when this fluid isn't squeezed out, like if it gets thickened, an abscess develops, or something similar. Sometimes some very sensitive cats get impacted glands if their food is changed because their poop isn't solid enough to squeeze the glands. So typically, the first solution isn't to jump straight to squeezing the glands (these glands are very small and require sticking your fingers up the cat's butt so... uhh... yeah, you can see why we'd all like to avoid this). Often times, the first measure is to just change the cat's diet.

anyway, that's a lot of words to say 'please contact your vet first and follow their advice'.

Tuvok is not as autistic coded in-narrative compared to what I've seen of Spock or T'Pol where they're othered heavily by those around them and have themes and arcs about struggling/striving to fit in BUT I do think he provides the vital autistic representation of not really angsting about your differences from other people because you're too busy and unaware and then even when you ARE made aware you mostly just think 'glad that's not me'. I think it's vital to have that sort of totally unbothered rep. I love that Tuvok is completely satisfied and proud of being Vulcan, doesn't long to experience emotion or struggle with a desire to express himself in a way his crewmates will understand, to be closer to them. I love that he has a long time and close friend that respects who he is and doesn't try to change him and that how close they are isn't framed as being in spite of his Vulcan nature. I love that being Vulcan isn't framed as a hindrance to him, like a roadblock to living a full and rich life. He has a wife and four kids and is a devoted husband and father. He's getting into gay horror scenarios. Tuvok was born on autism planet and he's thriving.

Malevolent part 53 spoilers

One of the strongest reactions I had during that episode was when they heard the bell and I automatically said out loud "but for who does it toll?" and minutes later it's confirmed that only they can hear it.

Lemme just pull this little thingy up to show WHY I think this has relevance...

So far we did get a lot of war imagery in this episode and the theming of this season quite literally is death and how it affects the outcome by existence in its entirety (aka Arthur and John having to save the day).

Plus, so far malevolent DID have a lot of poetry, music and literature relevant to it's story, (Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, Nothing Gold can stay, Peggy Gordon, Faroe's Song, The King in Yellow, etc...), who's to say the book "For Whom the Bell Tolls" won't have relevance in the slightest?

Guys, on a scale of one to ten how cooked are they?

After the Drama Society's performance of La Nuit De La Chenille/The Night of the Caterpillar, a bunch of dancers in Cornley came together and created Cornley's first Ballet Company. They did this because of Chris' earnest desire to show ballet to more people.
